Answer

Culture & Dress Code

How to dress and behave with respect in South Sinai.

The Short Answer

Dahab is relaxed, but it is still Egypt. Swimwear is fine at the beach/lagoon. In town (Masbat/Mashraba/Assalah), men should wear shirts and women should cover shoulders and knees out of respect.

The local Bedouin community is conservative. While they are very welcoming to tourists, modest dress in residential areas (Assalah) and the main market is a sign of respect. Public displays of affection should be kept minimal. Alcohol is fine in restaurants and bars, but walking the street with a beer is frowned upon.
